American Alligator

Alligators can be found in rivers, lakes, swamps, and ponds all over Florida. At night, the eyes of large alligators glow red when a light is shined on them. The eyes of smaller alligators glow green. According to the Everglades National Park website, the biggest alligator ever recorded in Florida was 17 feet 5 inches long. Alligators are dangerous to humans and should never be fed, petted, or approached.
